For 35 years, Surfline\Wavetrak has connected people with the ocean. Starting with surfers and expanding to offshore cruisers, anglers and a myriad of other boating, fishing and surfing enthusiasts, we’ve made it our mission to deliver peak maritime experiences. We provide those who work and play in the ocean with all the advanced tools, personalized insights and immersive content to make their lives better -- supplying them with the information they need to make smarter decisions, seek out new experiences and gain valuable knowledge.

Our Marketing team connects Surfline\Wavetrak with ocean enthusiasts all around the world. We tell the stories about our products and content — helping our community, users, and subscribers get the most enjoyment out of using our services. The marketing team develops brand strategy, campaign strategy, and activates channels including social media, product messaging, email, as well as athlete and brand partners.

Kyle Laughlin

Chief Executive Officer

Kyle Laughlin serves as Chief Executive Officer and Board Member for Surfline\Wavetrak. As CEO, Kyle oversees a team dedicated to connecting people to their passion. Kyle has held senior leadership roles at Amazon and Disney and has spent the last 20 years in technology, media, and entertainment where he led organizations devoted to innovation and the creation of next-generation digital content and products across platforms and devices. Prior to Amazon and Disney, he served as General Manager for Yahoo Sports & Games, where he led all programming, content, and business strategies for these industry-leading digital properties. Before Yahoo, he held several positions with top technology companies and consultancies. Kyle born and raised in Chicago, IL, and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems. Kyle, his wife Jennifer, daughter Maeve, and dog Zeus live in Laguna Niguel, CA.

Jeff Berg

Executive Chairman

Jeff serves as Executive Chairman of Surfline\Wavetrak. He was previously Chairman of NTN Buzztime, Inc., from 2009 to 2019 and Chairman of Accent Health from 1995 to 2000. From 2002 to 2007, Jeff was on the Board of Surfrider Foundation. In 1999, he co-founded Swell, a direct marketer of surf apparel and accessories, which was sold to Billabong in 2009. From 1993 to 2006, Jeff was the Chief Investment Officer of Matador Capital. Jeff pilots an Aero Commander throughout the Caribbean, Central America and Baja Mexico in support of the company's R&D and quality control programs.

Dave Gilovich

Chief Brand Evangelist

Dave is responsible for all non-weather content on Surfline; a position he has held for the past fifteen years. Prior to joining Surfline\Wavetrak, Dave served as Vice President of Marketing for Gotcha Sportswear, where he directed the marketing efforts for three international fashion brands. Previously he was the Editorial Director of Western Empire Publications and was responsible for leading Surfing Magazine past Surfer Magazine in total paid circulation. Despite the growing crowds, Dave is determined to surf Trestles to the bitter end.

Ben Freeston

Vice President of Product & Innovation

Ben is responsible for product development and innovation across all Surfline\Wavetrak brands. As the founder of Magicseaweed, Ben spent almost two decades playing at the intersection of data and product in surfing, becoming an evangelist for the power of new data science techniques to help deliver the next generation of surf zone modeling. He lives in Laguna Niguel with his wife and three children and still tries to surf everyday, regardless of the conditions.

Gavin Cooper

Vice President of Technology

Gavin leads Surfline\Wavetrak's technology efforts. He is responsible for the core systems that power the products our users love. Gavin joined Wavetrak in 2014 from magicseaweed where he led the product and engineering team for 4 years. Gavin has been strategizing, designing and building mobile apps since before there was an iPhone back when J2ME was the flavour. Gavin received his BSc in Digital Art and Technology from the University of Plymouth and also holds a BTEC Diploma in eBusiness. Gavin spends his time surfing and reading about everything tech: code, design, strategy and business.

Johnny Marcon

Vice President of Operations

Johnny oversees the operational functions of Surfline\Wavetrak with the goal of making sure everyone in the company is happy and productive. He holds a B.A. in Business Economics & Accounting from UCSB, and spent several years in Santa Barbara post-graduation working as a Product Manager for Graphiq, Inc. He believes fervently in people-first strategy and the power of sweet treats to solve any corporate dispute. He is a devout follower of the Lakers and Dodgers and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano with his wife, Mia.

Dustan Berg

Vice President of Finance

Dusty is responsible for all aspects of corporate finance at Surfline\Wavetrak. He's spent the past decade working alongside innovative tech companies both as an internal stakeholder and an external pundit. Before joining Wavetrak in 2015 he spent four years as Director of Financial Planning & Analysis at NTN Buzztime and prior to that published equity research on the payments industry for Raymond James Financial. Dusty holds a B.S. in Finance and Information Systems from the University of Florida and is a CFA charterholder.

Trent Good

Vice President of Design

Having previously been a senior executive leading Design for companies like Netflix, Blizzard Entertainment, and Hulu, Trent brings his expertise and vision to bear across Product, Marketing, and Editorial at Surfline\Wavetrak. He’s a champion for creativity, quality, and utilizing design to build experiences people love and help propel business growth. Trent charges waves, skateparks, and streets with equal abandon for safety, much to the dismay of his family.

Daniel Lanigan

Vice President of Legal

Daniel leads all aspects of legal and business affairs at Surfline\Wavetrak, supporting Surfline’s global growth and international expansion, product growth, and corporate development. Prior to joining Surfline, Daniel spent over a decade practicing law at Hogan Lovells US LLP in New York, helping clients find creative solutions to drive value and growth for their global businesses. Daniel received his JD from Vanderbilt Law School and is licensed to practice in California and New York. He has dual BA’s in Political Science and Religion and a minor in Business Administration from Temple University.

Pete Jozsi

Vice President of Waves Venues & Progression

Pete is responsible for leading Surfline’s business focus on inland wave developments and surf progression. Prior to joining Surfline\Wavetrak, he built and led the product development team at the Kelly Slater Wave Company (WSL) and launched Progression Labs, a startup focused on digital coaching in sports. Pete has a background in molecular and cell biology and 20 years’ experience leading strategy, product development, and marketing for a diverse range of biotech companies and his own startups. Pete lives in Encinitas, CA with his wife and two boys. When the waves are on he can be found between D Street and Swamis.
